Description
First of all, to kick off this course Communication and Negotiation Skills, we should understand that, without communication, there can be no effective negotiations. The two concepts are as symbiotic as they are symbolic in managing peoples and parties to negotiation as are dispute management and resolutions within the context of a working environment with complex but dynamic relationships.
Developing negotiation tactics and styles to master the dynamics of communicating with multiple stakeholder groups and the formulation of bargaining policies are essential to sound labour relations and practice as it helps to engender trust, commitment, and mutual understanding among all parties to an agreement or dispute. Managing industrial relations is therefore highly dependent on the appreciation of the particular work environment, and the ability to communicate and negotiate in a manner that engenders trust and mutual understanding between parties.
This workshop is to equip officers with the necessary communication and negotiation skills to assist them in ensuring industrial harmony.
